// FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS //
What are the helmet requirements for custom paint?
Helmets must be glossy white (or glossy silver if it’s a Stilo) or carbon fiber. No matte finish or previously painted helmets will be accepted. Please ensure your helmet is current SNELL and/or FIA certified. Currently we are SNELL SA2020 / FIA 8859-2015, and FIA 8860-2018.
Do you paint motorcycle helmets?
No, unfortunately we no longer paint motorcycle or DOT helmets of any kind. As of January 1, 2021, Veneratio Designs, LLC has primarily specialized only in FIA/SNELL Auto Racing and Karting helmets, as well as CMR Certified Youth karting helmets.
How much will it cost to paint my helmet?
Pricing is completely dependent on the complexity of your unique design and the paint, effects, and finish you choose to go with. If you have a design in mind or wish to work together to create an original one just for you, contact us directly and we’ll provide you with an official quote for your unique design requests. You may also review the Price Guide for more information.
How long does it take to paint my helmet?
There are periods of time throughout the season where wait times are longer. This is typically during the beginning of the year just prior to the racing season, and around the holidays. Wait times tend to be shorter during the tail end of summer/ fall. Depending on the design and time of year, your wait time can be anywhere between 2 – 4+ months from when your helmet arrives. We operate on a first come – first serve basis and do not reserve “time slots”, so please plan accordingly. Your estimated turnaround time will be provided to you at the time of your quote/deposit. Expedited service is available for an additional fee pending availability.
Do you offer any sponsorships?
No. While we love dedicating countless hours of hard work for all of our valued clients, we unfortunately do not offer any sponsorships or paint jobs as compensation.
Do I get a discount for multiple helmets or referrals?
No. While we appreciate your support and value all current and future clients, the amount of hours involved in custom helmet painting is substantial. Often times we already work late into the evenings, weekends, and almost every holiday in order to finish your helmets as soon as possible and meet deadlines – all while maintaining the highest standards in quality.
Can you paint a used helmet?
Absolutely. While we encourage new glossy helmets for the best results, we are able to paint used helmets with minor rock chips. However, we DO NOT repaint helmets that have been previously custom painted.
Do you paint replicas?
No, we do not paint replicas of any kind. We specialize in original designs only.
Can you paint my helmet like the one I see in your gallery but change the color and put my name on it?
No. While we appreciate you admiring another racers helmet, we will not be able to duplicate their design onto your helmet. Racers get their helmet custom painted for a reason. We doubt very much you would be happy spending your valuable time and money on a custom painted helmet only to have someone steal it from you. We will however be more than happy to create a unique design that is similar in style, but bespoke and custom just for you.
Can you paint my helmet if it was designed by another artist who doesn’t paint helmets?
Of course. We have worked regularly with 3rd party artists such as MDM Designs, AMDesigns, ect and will be more than happy to bring your new design to life as well. Please contact us with your design for a painting quote. Please keep in mind that we will require all important original graphics files created by the artist so they can be applied to the helmet. This includes any custom logos, font-names, patterns, ect.
Do you Chrome helmets?
Of course. While considered a “prototype” process, the chroming effect is the premier effect in today’s racing helmet designs. It can even be colorized by coating it with candy paints. If you are wishing to add chrome effect to your paint design, a NEW-IN-BOX helmet must be used due to the chroming process. No exceptions. It is important to note that this special effect and process is not the same as real chrome plating (ie: metallic bumpers, parts, wheels, ect) where items are dipped in an “acid-type” plating solution and electrified. This process is done with water and is considered an “imperfect” process. As such there will be minor defects that can be seen with the naked eye and are considered to be normal. However, the overall effect produces an extreme metallic-reflection that provides spectacular depths of color.
Can I change my design or add something after painting has begun?
Yes, & No. Changes cannot be made to the actual design layout or applied colors once painting has officially begun. No exceptions. However, if you suddenly need to omit a logo before it has been applied, or add a sponsor during the production, that generally isn’t a problem. Additional costs will be applied for the extra work involved, as well as extra time needed for the production. It is strongly recommended that you have a pretty good idea of what you are looking for in your design before you get started to save you both time and money.
Do you ship internationally?
Of course. We currently have clients all over the world and ship internationally with FEDEX. Please note that international clients are responsible for any applicable import fees and taxes.
How is the return shipping handled?
When your helmet nears completion, you will be contacted for final payment preparations and a return shipping quote via UPS which will be added towards your balance. Once your remaining balance clears our account, your new custom painted helmet will be boxed up and mailed to you with a tracking number.
